Welcome New Coordinating Council Members
At the April 19 meeting of the SISC Coordinating Council, 4 new members were elected to serve representing Grower stakeholders:
Charles Hall is the Executive Director of the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association. Charles holds a Masters of Science in Horticulture from the University of Georgia and has more than 30 years experience in association management, public relations and business operations.
Jim Knutzon is the CEO and President of Farm Fresh Direct, LLC in Monte Vista, Colorado. Farm Fresh Direct has production in the San Luis Valley (Colorado) as well as Kansas, Nebraska, Washington, California and Arkansas. Farm Fresh Direct grows all major varieties of potatoes and has six packaging facilities that produce all packages and sizes.
Laura Mrachek is the Owner and President of Cascade Analytical, Inc., a Wenatchee, Washington-based firm providing agricultural and environmental anlyses to growers and farming operations of all sizes. Additionally, along with her husband Michael, they manage more than 500 acres of orchard and vineyard, as well as Irrigation Scheduling Methods Inc., a business devoted to irrigation scheduling and consulting, and Saint Laurent Winery LLC. She holds a B.S. in Horticulture, Tree Fruit Production and Landscape Horticulture from Washington State University and serves as an industry leader on the Washington State Horticultural Association board.
Maureen Torrey is an 11th-generation grower in an upstate New York (Elba) family-owned diversified vegetable company, Torrey Farms, Inc., farming more than 10,000 acres. The company grows and markets cabbage, cucumbers, green beans, summer squash, winter squash, pumpkins, potatoes, and onions. Maureen has been active in industry organizations, including serving as a past chairman of United Fresh Produce Association.
