SISC and The Sustainability Consortium
Staff, Stewardship Index for Specialty Crops
The Stewardship Index for Specialty Crops (SISC) has an on-going goal of creating an aligned approach to measure and communicate sustainability across specialty crop supply chains. SISC is proud to announce a new partnership with The Sustainability Consortium® (TSC) that creates significant progress toward this goal.
TSC and SISC have agreed to work toward harmonization of metrics and collaborate together on implementation and innovation projects. This partnership will enable SISC’s metrics, developed through a multi-stakeholder process, to be utilized in reporting against some of TSC’s quantitative key performance indicators on continuous improvement in specialty crops (fruits, nuts, and vegetables) product categories that have been addressed to date by TSC’s Category Sustainability Profile process.
Through its unprecedented collaboration amongst the nation’s most influential grower organizations, NGO’s and buyers of specialty crop products, SISC works to build a common suite of outcomes‐based metrics to enable operators at any point along the supply chain to benchmark, compare, and communicate their own performance in meeting sustainability goals.
This partnership with TSC will support harmonization of reporting throughout the entire food industry, and help supply chains, as well as individual operations, address continual improvement in both productivity and environmental quality.
